Welcome Back!

We are so excited for the new school year.  Every summer our students are hard at work spending anywhere from 100 to 400+ hours on pursuing their passion and conducting research.  When we get back into the classroom, there is a buzz of excitement and stress.  Excitement from the cool and interesting work that was conducted and the stress of not finishing everything that could have been accomplished in the summer as students try to balance their research, summer jobs, athletics, family commitments all at the same time. As students trickle back into the classroom, we work hard to get that back to school focus and stamina.  Tying up loose ends with the mentors and a strict writing curriculum in the fall carries us into the winter with a strong script used to create our poster and ppt presentations.

For those of you that are new, our program is a four year sequence that encourages students to follow their passions as they embark on their Science Research Journey.  Students work as individuals and in groups to engage in scientific inquiry through a variety of authentic experiences.  These experiences include dissecting and annotating journal articles, writing research papers, creating/presenting ppt and poster presentations. Students develop and hone the skills that they will need for their future in college, careers and beyond.

This year is extra special as our NEW Innovative Science Research Classroom is complete and all the furniture is in.  Our new and old students have been walking in with eyes wide open as the room morphs with each activity we participate in.  I can’t wait for Open House for our parents to experience this cool space!
